Namik Glacier Trek Overview
Namik Glacier is a bugyal glacier situated at an altitude of 3600 meters in Pithoragarh district among the high Himalayan peaks of Uttarakhand. This glacier is also the source of the Ramganga River. The starting point of this glacier journey is Gogina village situated in Bageshwar district, from here onwards crossing the Ramganga river you reach Namik village, Namik village is the last populated place during this glacier journey.

From here onwards you reach Thala Bugyal by trekking through the forest. The next stop from Thala Bugyal is at Thal Top, there is a roofed building, so travelers rest for the night at this place. Between Thala Bugyal and Thal Top you have to face a steep climb of 3-4 kilometers.

The journey ahead from here gives you a different feeling of adventure. As you move ahead, attractive views and caves open up on both sides of you. The view from Talla Ranthan to Malla Ranthan will be one of the unforgettable moments of your life.

This place has gradually made its place in the field of tourism. This is a Kharak, which in the local language means a place for shepherds to gather their animals. There are rocky cliffs on Sudamkham, from where the path on the right side leads towards Munsiyari, Khalia Top and on the left side you can see a steep climb.

This climb is of 1-2 kilometers, after crossing this climb you reach Vinayak Top. There is descent trekking after Vinayak Top, but after covering a distance of about 3-4 kilometers one has to face a slight climb of fallen stone rocks. After crossing this climb you again enter Bugyal and reach Ghaduli. This is where we set up the last camp of this journey.

You will see a rock of stones behind the camp in Ghaduli. From here you can see the glacier very closely in front, after reaching here, after waking up in the morning the next day, you go further to Nanda Kund, which is the highest peak point of this journey, the place around this Kund is named Hiramani, Namik Glacier. Is known. After reaching here one has to come back to Ghaduli camp in the evening, travelers can conclude their journey from Sudamkham towards Munsiyari or Gogina.

Please Note – It’s A Fast Pace Itinerary , Sometimes It Needs To Trek More Than 15 Km A Day , You Can Customize It Accordingly Your Stamina And Ability To Walk In Rough Terrain .
Namik Glacier weather
Weather plays an important role in visiting Namik Glacier, although this trek does not require any highly technical experience. But during summer and winter, after Ranthan, the natural sources of water get closed, due to which you have to struggle a lot to get potable water during this journey. Even during the rainy season, one has to search for water sources on the roads and accordingly one has to search for a place suitable for camping.
Generally, the temperature around this glacier, being a Bugyal region, can reach 15 degrees during the day and 0 to -5 degrees at night during most of the summer days, while during the rainy days this temperature can reach around -8 degrees at night. Can go here, but during winter days the temperature here usually ranges from 2 to -10. During snowfall, it will not be advisable to go till the last point of Namik Glacier as the snow level increases beyond Sudamkham, due to which you may have to face many types of inconveniences. Due to some reasons, it can even be fatal for you.

If you want to do this trekking trip during snowfall, then you should do this trip only till Thal Top and Ranthan Kharak as much as possible, so that you can reach the base camp quickly in any kind of adverse conditions.
How to reach Namik Glacier Trek?
The Namik Glacier Trek journey starts from Gogina village. Here we are sharing with you the directions to reach Gogina village through various means of transport.
- By Air – If you are traveling by air, then Pant Nagar Airport is the last airport for this journey, from here you can take a taxi till Gogina for further journey. The distance from Pantnagar to Gogina is approximately 265 kilometers, which can be covered in 9 hours.
- By Train – If you are traveling by train, Kathgodam Railway Station is your railway station for this journey, The distance from Kathgodam to Gogina is approximately 230 kilometers, which can be covered in 8 hours. From here for onward journey you can either take a taxi to reach Gogina or you can take a bus from Haldwani Bus Stand to Bageshwar. You can take a bus or share a taxi till. From Bageshwar you can easily get sharing and booking taxis to reach Gogina.
- By Bus –If you are traveling by bus, then bus facility is available till Bageshwar, direct roadways bus facility is available from Anand Vihar Delhi to Bageshwar. The distance from Bageshwar to Gogina is only 80 kilometers, which can be covered in 3 hours. For onward journeys, taxis are easily available through sharing and booking.
- Self Drive – If you are driving on your own then here we are sharing the directions to reach from Delhi. The distance from Delhi to Gogina is approximately 510 kilometers, which can be covered in 13-14 hours.
